Yesterdays adventurous walk to Forbidden Foulness Island

This was a tidal walk along the ancient Broomway, an unmarked six-mile right of way across the Black Grounds and the Maplin and Foulness Sands. Thought to have been blazed by the Romans, this route to England’s fourth largest island has been in use for 2,000 years and was the only access until 1922 when a road bridge was built.

The bridge is not available to the public as the island is used as a weapons testing centre and public access is restricted. Although the Broomway remains a right of way, it is only passable at low tide, and there are warnings of quicksand and unexploded ordnance....

Annual Picnic in Regents Park

We had our annual picnic in Regents park yesterday evening. Great food and company, and then a gorgeous sunset as we were leaving the park.

What else we do besides walking, cycling and trips away

Here is a slideshow of some of the other activities we did over the last 12 months.

Sea kayaking and cycling/walking/river kayaking weekend (17th to 19th July) Chichester.

We have 12 people booked on this and also several people on the waiting list. If we get enough people on the waiting list, they can also be booked in (as the kayaking is done in multiples of 6).
The cost of the sea kayaking (4 hours) is £30. All equipment is supplied. The accommodation is B&B accommodation at Chichester University (walking distance from the station) £38 per person per night (own rooms, includes breakfast).
This trip is subsidised by CLOG and you would need to join CLOG in order to come on this trip
The sea kayaking is on the Saturday and the options for Sunday are: cycling, walking or river kayaking (again multiples of 6 are needed for the latter). If you are interested, don't leave it too late as the accommodation will get booked up.
Chichester itself is a lovely old cathedral city, which we will be exploring on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
Don't like water? Why not come just for the Sunday and do the walk or cycling?
